The purpose of the scholarship is to honor the memory of Tyson Brehm, a graduate of Brehm Preparatory School and the beloved son of the founder, Carol Brehm. This needs-based scholarship was established in order to provide a local (Southern Illinois) student the opportunity to attend the Brehm School. Desired applicants are those that will add diversity to the population of Brehm, and will be of an underrepresented group on the campus.

Timeline and Duration:
The scholarship is awarded annually; applications will be accepted in the spring but will remain open until filled.

Terms and Conditions:
The Tyson Brehm Memorial Scholarship is a need-based scholarship. Students are eligible to receive the award after their first year in either the Brehm or OPTIONS programs.

Eligibility Determination:
This scholarship is need-based and has specific criteria is it relates to eligibility, therefore, qualified candidates will be identified by the collaborative efforts of the Tuition Assistance and Scholarship Committee. Applicants for tuition assistance and need-based scholarships are directed to fill out the FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition) as part of the process. Students who meet the criteria for tuition assistance, but also who meet the stated criteria for the Tyson Brehm Scholarship will be considered as eligible for both. The committees will compile, using the criteria, the names of the students, along with a short synopsis of the student’s experiences and personal situation, as indicated by the FAST. The eligible names will be brought forward to the Scholarship Committee, and the donor, in order to determine the best recipient.
